L stands for Lake...

L stands for Lake...

A friend told me he is spending the weekend at Lake Anna and I let him know I will be spending it at a Lake in NC.   I just hope the weather is not as hot as they predict.  I think I may have to make some sangria fitting for a pre-holiday weekend.

Porch party

Saturday night was perfect for a porch party.  The neighbors gathered at our house after dinner for some cornhole and adult beverages.  We decided the drink of the night - mojito's and used fresh mint from our garden.  Turns out I made them better than the hubs, so I played barkeep.  I was too busy enjoying our friends and making drinks to snap any pics.  I served some guacamole, a veggie dip and lemon bars to make sure everyone ate a little something while they played and drank.

Sunday brought my parents and my aunt over for lunch on their way to spend a few days at my sisters house.   We enjoyed lunch and left over lemon bars on the porch.   We had a lovely visit, nothing like sipping some on sweet tea and watching the world go by.

I still want to add more detail to the porch and a table that seats at least four.  Here's some inspiration for me.  May tackle this project in the fall.  Too hot now to do more than power wash  (you should have seen how dirty I was after the hubs let me help).

The ceiling is already sky blue and we have lovely outdoor ceiling fans.   I may paint the floor for added interest. I'll keep searching and  I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend.

Ikat get enough

Ikat get enough

My latest kick has been ikat.  Okay, that and fish tacos...  I love its global vibe.  I think the hubs needs to take me out this weekend and I will wear my ikat dress.

Sweet treats

You know it's a great weekend when you have fro-yo twice.  We went to sweetFrog for my perfect lunch, just add some fruit toppings to bump up the nutritional value.  My Mom would be so proud.

There is a  beautiful hydrangea that is between my property and the neighbors.  I cut some blooms yesterday and it made me think of my 89 year old neighbor that still drove herself to the post office and the Piggly Wiggly before she passed away.  She was such a caring and loving woman.   It brought her so much joy that I loved the hydrangea as much as she did.  Her son lives in the house, but it's just not the same.

We are off to enjoy a gorgeous day on the lake.  I hope ya'll have a wonderful day
and enjoy something sweet.

Nude + Bright

I knew it was destiny after reading Cafe Fashionista's  must try mani/pedi combos guide that is was time to change my nail polish.  I tried going to the nail salon but they were packed and the wait was just too long for me (I still had to eat dinner).  I have a ton of polish and decided to create my own nude.  I mixed two Avon shades I had on hand,  Pink Power  and a color no longer available, but very similar to essie Brownie Points.  Pink power is the accent color on my index finger.

I painted the toes coral and called it a night.  I made sure to point out the savings to the hubs since it was a DIY mani/pedi.   He took me to lunch today, so I guess we are even.   Thanks, Erika for a inspiring me.

Wishing for the weekend.

I woke up this morning thinking it was Thursday. Guess what?  It's only Wednesday and my fav Aunt is coming to town tomorrow and I can't wait to see her.   My Dad introduced her to a friend of his (back in the day) and they hit it off.  They were married and he moved her from the south way up to Michigan.   I'm already thinking what I'm going to wear as we cruise around.

I'm thinking I will make Boston Coolers as a nod to my Uncle's  Michigan roots.  I hope y'all join me.

London calling

All of the coverage for the Queen's Jubilee has the hubs and I talking about taking a trip across the pond.  That  makes me think of must haves while there.

Sky umbrella

A fun umbrella that will come in handy for the dreary weather.   We have had great luck when we visit Seattle, so the same thing could happen for us there.

fish & chips
The hubs loves fish & chips.  We could search for the best of the best.   Also enjoy the wonderful Indian food that London has to offer.

fascinator
Shop for the perfect fascinator.  I have been a fan of them since before the royal wedding.  Makes me want to go for high tea or a fancy garden party. Maybe I should just have my own tea party...

I think I will wait until the Summer Games have passed before I even look into booking a trip to London.  In the meantime, I will enjoy a cup of earl grey and maybe a scone or two.
