Charles meet Kate

Today I wore my Ann Taylor belted crossover shirtdress  (hazel cream)  and paired it with neutral heels (Charles by Charles David) and my new Kate Spade bag that the hubs recently bought me.   Yes the shoes are high, but I admit I like how tall they make me feel.   I'm 5'5'' and can get away with wearing a few petite items.  I prefer mixing neutrals together and not being so matchy-matchy.   The hubs even took me to lunch.  Topped it off with donating blood to the Red Cross.  Now to think about dinner.

p.s.  I made a little KSNY purchase myself today.  Who could blame me with the sample sale?

Calm skies out west

What a week for the east coast, an earthquake and hurricane Irene.  I was thankful that no one was injured during the earthquake.  I am praying that Irene changes course, but I have a feeling she is headed straight to my beloved NC coast.  Stay safe & I hope y'all fair well.

Triple D

I love Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on Food Network.  There is even a Flavortown app that will give you directions to places that have been featured on the show.   While in PA we found Kelly O's  and stopped there for lunch.  The hubs had the haluski (can you see him reaching for his fork?)  and I had the mush.  He had the winning choice, but I can mark another Triple D joint off the list.

Cone-oli

I saw the recipe for cone-oli's in Food Network Magazine and knew I had to try them.  I substituted mini semisweet chocolate chips for the chopped chocolate and the recipe is very easy to follow.   I brought them into work and they were devoured.  I was not as impressed by them as my co-workers.   Make sure to assemble right before serving or try freezing the cone first.   The cone gets soggy quickly.   I think I will stick to the classic canolli from now on.

Inspired by another

Nine West - Stylin

I follow several blogs (as you can see by the list to the right) and I have been inspired to make a purchase.   Love at First Shoe has worn these in a few posts and I have adored them from afar.  You gotta love a girl & her shoes.  The other day I googled the style and found them on sale at Piperlime, a few clicks later and they were mine. They are final sale, so no returning these babies.   Stylin are pretty high, but I know I can work them!

Pesto and Pinot

The weekend means one thing, okay many things, but this one thing is requested time after time.  Yup, the hubs wanted pesto for dinner tonight.   I had all the ingredients on hand to make it, add a tossed salad and dinner is done.  He is fed, happy & lounging on the couch.   It is great to be able to enjoy a simple and delicious meal without turning on the oven.  One of the many reasons I love summer.

Basil growing in our garden.

Pedi for me

Have you ever gone in for a pedi and picked out a color that seemed perfect?   You enjoy every moment  in the massage chair while your tootsies are soaking in water that is the perfect temperature.  The nail technician treats your feet better than you do yourself.  You're either barefoot, in flip flops or strappy sandals and have the tan lines on your feet to prove it.   After the salt scrub, massage and heated towel the polish is applied.   You're feeling giddy from the fumes and off you go to let the polish set.  You leave the salon and notice in natural light that the color you selection is bright, maybe even on the verge of neon.   Yup, that is exactly what happened to me last night and my very pink toes.
