Day off

Shells with pancetta & spinach
Saturday was the hubs night to eat as many carbs as he wanted.  He requested shells w/pancetta & spinach, apple fritters w/ice cream (both store bought).  I made a warm mushroom dip w/crackers for him to munch on while I was making dinner.   I made a pot of gravy (that's what we call sauce) meatballs & picked up two kinds of Italian sausage.  Since I was already in the kitchen I decided to make some Bourbon balls I saw in the December issue of Southern Living, but with a twist.

I used Praline Liqueur bought on our trip to NOLA.  I brought them to my sister's surprise party and they were a hit.  I wish I would have left a few a home for me to enjoy.  Sunday he was back to low carb.  I can't wait to hear what he wants to have this Saturday.  Hopefully something I love as well.

Lip options

Lip options

I do not own any lipstick and I'm considering buying some.  I even had to borrow some from my future SIL on my wedding day.  My make-up maven friend has given me lip gloss the past two Christmases.  I wonder if she is trying to tell me something.  Now to find a shade that will not scare me when I look in the mirror.  Any color suggestions for a blue eyed blonde?

p.s. No plumping needed, already have full lips.

On a quest

The only make-up I wear on a regular basis is mascara.  I used to not wear any until the hubs (boyfriend at the time) pointed out that if I wore mascara people could see my eye lashes.  I'm a natural blonde and we are not known for having dark lashes.   Another problem I have is that many mascaras leave me with dark circles under my eyes, even though I only apply it to my top lashes.    I have been a quest the past few months for the perfect one for me buying both drug store and more expensive brands.

I love the idea of tubes and purchased L'Oreal Double Extend ($10.99) and Blinc ($24).  Blinc is very wet when applied and does not allow you to build a thicker lash.  I read a blog that loved Rimmel Lash Extender ($7.49) and tried it.   I asked a make-up maven friend at work what she uses and she was kind enough to give me a brand new tube of Mally ($20) to try.  My quest is not over... still searching for the perfect mascara for me.

I may have mentioned in a previous post that the hubs & I live in a Victorian home.   It has the wrap around porch that I love and architectural details that the hubs wanted (pocket doors).  I snapped a few pics with my phone to show a few of the details that show why we love the old grand dame.

Happy Presidents' Day to you.  I love the quote above from Abraham Lincoln.

Captivated

Captivated

I am having a serious love affair with all the shoes out there with cap toes.   I think I need to remedy that by buying another pair.   I love the ones I bought from Banana Republic last month.  Shoe shopping is the perfect way to spend my lunch hour

Carbolicious

I made Living the Gourmet's  "Greek Style" macaroni bake on Sunday for dinner.  The picture I took with my phone does not do it justice.  It was absolutely delicious and tasted even better on Monday.   The hubs decided yesterday to go back on his low card diet.   BOOOO!!!!

Yesterday was Valentine's Day and instead of chocolate, I decided I wanted a toffee apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.  Going there always reminds of my travels in Colorado w/the hubs.  It was yummy, but not as good as the apple pie apple one of my SIL's turned me onto.

I hope y'all had a lovely Valentine's Day.

Fashion quirk

Sneakers are for exercising

Sneakers are for exercising by blondegigi featuring small heels

I must admit that I have a quirk when it comes to wearing jeans.   I can't for the life of me wear running shoes/sneakers when I have on a pair.  I have a closet full of flips flops,  Uggs, boots and flats that all make it onto my feet, but not my New Balance.  I can't even put on sneaks to take the pups out.    Is it just me or do y'all have a fashion quirk too?

Cold relief

The hubs never gets sick, well that changed this week when he got a cold  Of course he share it with me and was over it in 2 days, I'm on day 4.  I was feeling better yesterday afternoon and decided to go to Old Navy to use my Super C-A-S-H coupon.

I scored all of the above for $34 after using the coupon.
I love the front and back of this top.

Shopping & lunch left me feeling the need to be one with my couch.  The hubs got called into work, so it was just me and the pups.  Reading Glamour and giving myself a fun mani was my perfect night in.

Mia & mani. (Confetti: Moonstruck, Sally Hansen: Tyin' the Knot)

I'm still one with the couch today.  Mia is loving every minute of cuddle time.

Oh so posh

If you have read my blog in the past you already know it is anonymous.  The main reason is job related.   I love my job, but it is what I do and does not define me.  I dislike when I meet someone new and the first thing out of their mouth is "What do you do?".  That is one of the reasons I decided to order calling cards for those I meet in non job related ways.  I came across Posh Girl Boutique on Etsy and had to place an order.  Traci offers such a vast selection that one is bound to be perfect for you.  She is super easy to work with and sends a proof of the design for your approval.  We ended up changing mine around and I must admit I LOVE the end result!

Hope you like the peek of some of her offerings.  Check out her labels, note cards & other selections.
