Am I moody?

I have a confession to make,  I have a thing for cows.  I still eat meat, but I find their faces to be endearing.  There is a dairy farm not too far from our house that we pass on the way to my sisters.  I joked about wanting a cow and the hubs nixed that idea.  I went on kiva and helped a man buy a cow (not for slaughter) to help provide money for his family.  The hubs just returned this morning from his trip home to Colorado.  He had to give me my present before I headed off to work.

The kicker is that I'm not a morning person, so these are perfect for me.  And he even bought me the matching slippers.  Yup, that is love.....

I'm on Fire

I'm a huge fan of Kindle.   I have the original keyboard and the Fire.  The plan was to share the Fire w/the hubs...  Well, I'm not very good when it comes to sharing.  He wanted to take it with him to Colorado for 11 days.  I said no, go get his own (I'm addicted to Scrabble) and that's what he did.   I had a plain Jane case since it was to be shared, and I gave him the old case & started a search for a fun case for me.  Kate Spade was no longer offered on Amazon so I turned to my favorite site for monogrammed items.... Etsy.

I was thrilled when I found Lovey Dovey Creations.  They have an amazing selection of sleeves, folios and cases for Kindles, Ipads and laptops.

laptop sleeve
folio case for ipad
mousepad
The best part is that you can choose the background pattern and color for most products.

I'm looking forward to receiving my sleeve.  They have a variety of other items they sell, so go check them out.  I'm thinking that the key chains would make perfect gifts for our next girls weekend.

search for the perfect short

the perfect short

I work in a very conservative industry and run into people I know through work on occasion. I am mindful of the length of my shorts as well as skirts when I am out and about.  The picks above would be perfect and since I started a base tan on my cruise.  Hmmm... I better get shopping.

First, but not last cruise

RC Allure of the Seas

Dirty Monkey at Playa Bonita

Fish tacos at Coconuts

View from Rastas

I'm so glad that the hubs & I cruised with friends.  He was injured on the 1st day at sea and was in a wheelchair for most of the cruise.  He was a trooper and we made the most of it.  Above are a few pics  that I took with my phone.  I'm looking forward to cruising again in the future - sans injury.

p.s. Yes, I did over pack. No,  I did not over eat.  :)

Bon Voyage

The hubs & I leave tomorrow for our cruise.  It has been planned since July and I can't believe how quickly time has gone by.  I have a bunch of errands to run and packing to do.  I'm most concerned with limiting the shoes I bring.   So here's to blue skies while we are gone.

Here is a picture of my Yorkie Mia. She was hoping for a treat but I snapped a quick photo of her instead.  She & Rocco will be spoiled by my parents while we are away.

Roasted fennel & potatoes

We have yet to plant our garden this year but some of last years fennel  returned on its own.  I decided that roasted fennel & potatoes would be a nice side to the steaks the hubs grilled last night.   So glad since the hubs loved it.

Roasted fennel with potatoes and onions

2 fennel bulbs, trimmed quartered, cores removed
2 medium onions, peeled and quartered
2 lbs baby red-skinned new potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes, quartered
Olive oil, a few tablespoons
Coarse sea salt and fresh black pepper

Preheat oven to 425°F. In a large roasting pan. Add olive oil, salt and pepper, and toss with your hands to make sure all of the vegetables are coated with oil. Roast for 40 minutes, stirring once during that time, until potatoes are cooked through and crusty on at least one surface. Serve hot or at room temperature.

Enjoy!
